Setting Smart Goals; The Art Of Setting Smarter Goals

Setting SMART goals and just merely setting goals. You may not realize it but there is a big difference between the two.

Like in many areas of life if you truly want to activate change you must be willing to work more effectively and use approaches that you may not normally use.

Setting goals is a commitment to yourself it is an important life tool that should be taken seriously. Let us discuss another technique that will take you to a higher plane of goal setting.

You can probably recall what a SMART goal is. It is one that is specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time bound. It encapsulates the idea of merging your values and your goals.

There needs to be passion associated with your goals, this will in turn help you to stay positive and motivated about your goals.

By extension passion and enthusiasm about achieving your goals will act as a magnet for the things/people that you may want in your life. A passionate goal setter is extremely engaging.

In addition to being passionate, this method of goal setting is all about being flexible. Guess what, your goals are going to shift at one time or another and you must be able to adapt to these changes.

You may find that in the pursuit of your goal you might attract an opportunity that was unforeseen when the goal was first formulated.

The road to success has many twists and turns, mold yourself into an expert driver.

It is possible to achieve goals by yourself, but it is highly recommended that you get the support and encouragement of someone else. Someone who will hold you accountable for your actions and keep you honest as your move toward your goals.

It may be as simple as a quick phone call once a week to make sure you are on track with a particular task or you may find it helpful to actually meet once a week with your supports.

Achieving goals is strictly up to you, but an extra push is often needed and that support can go a long way.

Let us expand on the notion of being responsible for our goals. Where you are today is a direct result of all the actions and decisions you made in the past.

If you play the blame game you are affirming that other people have the power to determine results and outcomes in your life. When you are setting smart goals, you have to take the power back.

It is human nature to want to blame others for the things that happen in our lives, but it is important for you to recondition your thoughts to accept that you must be held responsible. Say to yourself "I am in control!"

Your ability to achieve goals will translate into true success and happiness. The only thing stopping you from realizing your full potential is you.
