If You Have No Motivation, Is It Possible To Succeed?

One of the main reasons cited for incomplete goals is having no motivation. What usually happens is that at some point in their journey to success, some people suddenly or gradually lose the urge, the desire, the sense of urgency or the passion to achieve a particular goal.

In addition to incomplete goals, the unfortunate side effect of a having no motivation includes loss of control of your destiny or perhaps even the constant worry about the future because you are unsure about how to proceed or whether you will fail yet again.

It is an awful but common state of being that can lead to many negative results. Many things can lead to this loss of desire and it is important for you to take note of these reasons and steer clear of them!

  • Many people have an overwhelming feeling that their present goals or aspirations are not right for them

  • They have not written down and clearly defined their goals

  • They focus constantly on the length of time it will take to achieve certain goals

  • Their goals conflict with each other

If you find that you are constantly using the excuse of lack of motivation for not completing your goals, here are a few things to consider that will help to more quickly get you out of that rut and spur you back into action.

  • Always be open and willing to make sacrifices necessary for change. The minute you set up a block against it, your mind will quickly tune out and you will begin to think negatively. Correct that problem before it happens by really internalizing the concept of "nothing ventured, nothing gained"

  • Nip that feeling of having no motivation in the butt by getting back up as soon as you get knocked down. Get in the habit of moving forward quickly after you experience short term failure. Always anticipate potential obstacles and keep on going if or when you encounter them.

  • Sometimes you may just need a refresher as to why you are trying to accomplish a particular goal. Pull out a pen and paper and make a list of all the good things you will gain once you've achieved your goal. Do not focus on the challenges. Focus on the end goal and all its benefits.

  • It may also help you to read up on a person that you admire. Most success stories include some measure of failure but often a very happy ending. Learning about the obstacles and set backs of someone you look up to may be just the inspiration you need to keep you from losing your drive.

A brief moment of defeat is nothing in the grand scheme of things when you think about the sense of satisfaction and victory you will feel at the end of your journey. Being able to live life on your own terms and having the ability to control your own destiny is well worth the effort. It's only possible if you figure out a way to get out of that downward spiral and motivate yourself to act.
