Do different leadership styles produce different results?
As a leader there are many different leadership styles that you might consider adopting. The job of leading a company or organization is indeed a very important one, and while you may have the right skills, you have to make sure that you are utilizing the right leadership style. Before you determine the style(s) that best suits you and your environment, ask yourself these questions: What kind of skills and/or qualifications does my team have? Are they at a high level? What is the nature of the work that we are doing? Is it very procedural? Does it change everyday? Does itrequire a great deal of creativity? What type of environment am I working in? Is it laid back, conservative, very energetic and adventurous? Which of the leadership styles am I naturally drawn to.Once you answer the above questions you will be more able to choose which of the different styles is most appropriate for your situation. Like many good leaders, you may find that you need to switch from style to style depending on the situation.
