Career goal setting material to help you stand out from the crowd

Let's take a look at some career goal setting material to better help you plan your career goals. Different tools and approaches work for different people but the one commonality is the act of effectively setting career goals.

More and more managers say they're surprised that many of the new candidates they interview, don't have career goals. Many of you may not have the answers to questions like, where do you want to be in three years? In five years? How will you get there? What are some the barriers that you may anticipate? If you're drawing a blank on these answers not to worry, here is some career goal setting material to help you figure it out.

We shall break things down into five sections: Who, What, Where, When and How. Ask yourself the following questions and write your answers down.

Who: Who will I ask for assistance? Who is going to benefit from my career objectives? Who will I work with to achieve my goal?

What: What do I want the outcome to be? What will I do to get the ball rolling? What will make me truly happy?

Where: Where do I begin? Where will my career goals put me ten years from now? Where will I put my resources?

When: When do I start? When do I want my goals to be achieved? When will I apply my skills and qualifications to begin to achieve these goals?

How: How do I begin? How do I see these goals affecting my future? How do I truly feel about my chosen goals?

It's amazing how a few simple questions can really start to clear things up in your mind in terms of your approach to career goal setting. You will now be in a position to create an effective action plan.

Here are a few things to note as you move ahead. Remember to state your goals very clearly and in a manner that you are truly able to accept. It's a good idea to visualize yourself achieving your goal and then plan backwards from there. You can get the best results if you confront all your insecurities and expectations right away. As soon as you can put all of this down on paper and get going!

Whether you looking to make more money, or maybe you're trying to work less in your career! Whatever the case, career goal setting material will give you the direction and structure you need to really achieve those goals and finally find happiness in your career.
