Breaking a habit and achieving your goals
Breaking a habit, it's something that seems daunting to many of us, But this is not always the case there are ways for you to re-engineer your brain and your way of thinking to break you out of a routine that has been stifling your progress. We will outline a few helpful techniques to help you in breaking a habit that has become a routine. But first you must be willing to admit that you in fact have a bad pattern to break. Understand the pattern and really identify it because without this step you won't be able to move forward. Get started by answering these questions. What is your pattern or routine? What are some of the specific things that are preventing you from breaking the patter or routine? As we have said time and time again, write it down! Don't leave it floating around in your brain, commit to it on paper. If you think about it, it is always easier to push away a thought but it is not as easy to dismiss a commitment on paper. Write down the pattern or routine you wish to change and why it is important for you to do so. One important thing to remember is that you can't just get rid of a pattern without finding something to replace the specific need it fills. That would be like taking away the keys on your keyboard and expecting to still be able to type up a letter. It doesn't work that way! If you cut down on excessive shopping youwill need to find a new outlet for relaxation perhaps, maybe finding a new hobby. Always take it one routine at a time. You may have a lot of negative patterns that you want to get rid of, but take it slow. It's better to be slow and effective than to be rushed and ineffective. Try and take one whole month and focus on changing just one pattern or routine. This breaking the pattern or routine tip, may not be for everyone but it's worth a try. Why not make that commitment to kicking a habit public. Let your friends and family know what you are attempting to do and that you are going to stick to it. Then give your best friend or sibling a considerable amount of money, maybe $100, and tell them they can only return it to you once you have successfully avoided your habit for thirty days. Now that's leverage! Remember persistence and consistency is key. Keep at it and don't beat yourself up if you get back into your bad pattern. Try and try again. Every attempt will bring your closer to your goal. Before you know it you would have kicked your bad habit and would be able to move toward all your goals uninhibited.
